Chapter 42: 100 episodes. What I know now that I didn't know at episode 1.

She was doing everything right. That was the problem

I started this podcast in December of 2023 because I was working with women with chronic health conditions, specifically autoimmune diseases.

I wanted to create a space where women could get the education and the awareness that they needed to get their lives back on track.

The first episodes were about gut health, autoimmunity, and specific practical steps to support healing from chronic health conditions.

But somewhere along the way, over the course of 100 episodes, some things shifted both in terms of the focus areas as well as what women needed support with.

I found that a majority of these women were already doing a lot of the things that I was sharing in these podcast episodes.

They were already following certain diets, strict protocols, various treatment plans, they were taking all the supplements and religiously doing strength training.

In fact, they were already following a majority of the protocols and the step-by-step processes. And yet, somehow they were stuck either physically, emotionally or both. They were either not seeing the results that they wanted or improvements that did not hold.

It made me think about what was actually missing.

She was not failing at healing.

She was exhausted from performing healing while trying to heal at the same time.

I realized that she did not need more information, more protocols or more strategy.

What she needed was a place where she could be simply received, just as she was. Without the pressure to perform or be perfect.

All her life she had been told that it was her body that was broken. That she wasn’t following the protocols perfectly. That she wasn’t disciplined enough.

Or that somehow it was all her fault.

In fact, she measured her protein intake and took protein powder every single day. She went to the gym to train even on days her body screamed for rest. She hit her 10,000 steps even on her worst days.

She followed a vegan, gluten free diet hoping that it would ease her pain. She was tracking her symptoms meticulously.

But somehow, she could never see any pattern that would help her understand whether what she was doing was actually helping or harming her body.

In spite of all this, she was still overwhelmed, exhausted and losing hope of ever feeling like herself again.

Here’s what no one had told her.

She didn’t need to do more or earn her support. She needed to be held in a way that took the pressure off her.

A place where she felt heard without needing to justify herself or apologize for what her body could or couldn’t do. Or constantly measure herself against the standards set by others.

Because when she did, her body could finally exhale.

Her symptoms remained. Nothing on the surface had changed. But inside, something was different.

She felt connected to her body. Maybe for the first time.

It was as if she finally understood the language her body was speaking in. The constant struggle to fix her body was now replaced by a need to understand it. To embrace it as it was right now.

She was finally at home in her body.

So I built a container. And I built it backwards.

I led with what it will never ask of her.

There is nothing to keep up with. There is nothing to perform. There is nothing to fail at.

And it’s designed to allow women to sit with what’s true in their lives without rushing to fix it.

I ran a poll around a name for the circle I was building. Thirty-five women. Three choices. Eighteen responded in twenty-two hours.

They didn’t just vote, they wrote stories.

One woman wrote that coming home was the novel she had been meaning to write for a long time. Another said it meant choosing herself without needing anyone’s permission.

That told me…

the name wasn’t mine

It belonged to them. And that’s when I understood what I was really building.

The Coming Home Circle begins June 2. Nine weeks. Twenty women. Three mornings a week — not daily, because I know what overwhelm looks like from the inside.

The live sessions are for witnessing, not coaching. The Effortless Healing Companion sits with whatever surfaces. It doesn’t fix anything, it just holds.

If you’re tired of performing your own healing, the Coming Home Circle is for women who are ready to just be in it instead.

JOIN THE CIRCLE

If any part of this essay felt like it was written for you, if you recognised yourself in the woman who was doing everything right and still somehow stuck — I want you to know something.

You are not the only one.

In August, I’m opening 50 seats for the Effortless Healing Companion. A 12-week programme built on everything these 100 episodes have taught me about what women with chronic illness actually need.

Not more information. Not another protocol.

A space where you are received. Not fixed. Not optimised. Just seen.

The Circle helps you see the pattern. This is what holds you once you do
